I am currently working on a Utube clone for Fresno State with Fedora 6 installed. I know how to do the installation on Debian/Ubuntu but the Fedora installation does not have any how-to's. If someone could help me with anything, that would be great.

See my web pages about installation of Fedora 6:

http://optics.csufresno.edu/~kriehn/fed ... ation.html
http://optics.csufresno.edu/~kriehn/fed ... edure.html
http://optics.csufresno.edu/~kriehn/fed ... _boot.html

Based on your post, I assume that this is what you are looking for? Or are you looking for a how-to to install your particular application on Fedora? I'm a bit confused.

And if you are going to install F6 from scratch, I'd just start out with F7 instead...

i know how to install linux, that really isnt the problem. I'm going to create a website like Utube (or google video).

I have experience in Debian but none in fedora, the office whats me to experiment with this a bit but only in Fedora (they only have experience in Fedora not Debian/Ubuntu).

its kinda like this website:
http://www.flashinsider.com/2006/07/26/ ... tube-site/

these are the instructions i found before but they are for debian Etch:
http://www.howtoforge.com/video_streami ... flowplayer

Thank you though for the reply. I have looked at the installation instructions before, specifically from your site!

oh ya this site (if working) will be implemented for Fresno State! Basically a how-to site first for the library and then the whole campus (if working lol)

This looks to be pretty easy.

Make sure you have livna installed as a repo, as Lame and ffmpeg are both available from it. Ruby can be installed from the base repo if it isn't on already, as can lighttpd. The rest of the packages will probably have to be installed by hand (configure, make, make install). Just take the instructions and adapt them as necessary using yum.

I broke Fedora 6 so im going with FC7.

suck so much, a week of work out the window. Oh well I guess its alright.

Anyways thanks for all the comments. Btw is there anyway I can install Fedora by CD or network?

Is there some way to image the installation so later I can just get the website up (with the OS). I know about the partion tables but im looking along the lines of
http://netbootdisk.com
Ive used this to back up my laptops via network (great for windows xp!)

its a script that uses many open source programs and other resources to create a Utube clone. Its made for a Debian or fedora system (if you can get the right packages). Its very hard to set up though. I got it to work but it was not used because o the complexity of keeping up with the server (the hardware broke after 3 months of finally getting it to work).

anyways go and google it. Its a good experience. There are other scripts like wordpress and mediawiki that do other things like this. Google them all if your interested.
