Install ttf-bitstream-vera Fonts

Before Google Earth can be launched, the ttf-bitstream-vera fonts and a missing library needs to be installed via yum:
~> sudo yum install sudo yum install bitstream-vera-fonts-common bitstream-vera-sans-fonts bitstream-vera-sans-mono-fonts bitstream-vera-serif-fonts redhat-lsb-4.0-5.fc14.i686
Press 'y' when prompted to install the programs and any additional dependencies.

Fix SELinux settings
~> sudo semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t '/opt/google/earth/free/*.*'
~> sudo restorecon -v '/opt/google/earth/free/*.*'
~> sudo setsebool -P allow_execmod 1
Press 'y' when p

Install Google Earth

The RPM file for Google Earth can be downloaded from:


Click on the 64 bit .rpm
radio button and the Agree and Download button to download the file. Once downloaded, install the rpm:
~> sudo rpm -vhi ~/Downloads/google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm
To launch Google Earth, type:
~> google-earth &
Alternatively, click on Applications -> Internet -> Google Earth to start the application.
