At this point in time, you should be very comfortable installing applications both from yum and, to a lesser degree, from source. There are several more applications that I find to be mildly useful, from time to time, and so, for the sake of completeness, I've included a list here. Obviously, at this point, what I think is important versus what others think is important is purely a matter of choice and preference. As a result, I suggest pulling up yumex and browsing through the applications that are available to see if there are any of interest to you. Just to provide myself with some documentation, I have included a list of a few additional applications that I have installed on the system for my personal records:

Press 'y' when
prompted to install the programs and any additional dependencies. After it is installed, source your ~/.bashrc

Any of the installed programs
can now be launched from the command
prompt.
