General Setup for Installing Applications
With the emergence of yum,
setting up general applications and utilities has become very simple
for rpm-based
distributions — especially with the use of third party
repositories.
As a result, I have dedicated this section toward augmenting yum and
providing information on how to setup repositories
such as freshrpms,
dries, macromedia, didier,
and (kind of) livna.
The proper setup of these repositories provides the basis for a large
portion of the rest of the HOWTO
pages, which is why it has been included here.
